How often do my carpets need to be cleaned?

Frequency of cleaning is determined based on household conditions. Outdoor contaminants tracked over carpet can make indoor pollution levels higher than those outside. Therefore, we recommend taking care of your investment with regular professional cleanings (at least every 12 months). Some carpet manufacturers require professional steam cleaning/hot water extraction in order to maintain your warranty specifications.

What type of cleaning method do you use?

We use steam cleaning (hot water extraction). The steam extraction machine lifts out the soil and detergent, with no residue left behind. This method is recommended by leading carpet manufacturers.

How long do I have to stay off the carpet after it is cleaned?

However, it is our recommendation to stay off the carpet as long as possible until it is dry, especially for the first 4 hours. This helps prevent crushing of the pile and re-soiling. Also, you don’t want to remove the plastic tabs or foam blocks that have been placed under the furniture legs until the carpet is completely dry.

How can I keep my carpet looking new as long as possible?

Regular vacuuming using proper filtration and micro filter bags keeps indoor air cleaner, extends carpet life and will help to remove dry soil particles that can dull fibers and cause matting to occur.

What are those ugly black lines around the baseboards and under doorways?

You may have experienced these dark lines that appear on the carpet if you have light colored carpet. This soiling is called filtration soiling because it comes from air passing through the carpet as it is attempting to get through the crack between the carpet and the baseboard or under a closed door. As the air passes through the edge of the carpet pile, this microscopic soiling is deposited there (hence the term filtration soiling). This occurs over a significant period of time and is not noticed until build-up occurs. This type of soiling is difficult to remove because the soil particles are so fine that they penetrate deep into the carpet pile, sometimes into the backing of the carpet. Can it be removed? Sometimes. With special products, time and effort, reasonable results can sometimes be achieved. To help prevent filtration soiling, vacuum and wipe the edges of the carpeting on a regular basis.
